Getting Started at Harmony Horse Center

Whether you're looking for an occasional lesson just for fun or you're wanting to really dive in and learn all you can about horses, or if you need some one-on-one instruction to focus on a new skill, there's something for everyone here. Check out what we have to offer!

Introductory Lessons

Everybody starts out with an intro lesson at Harmony Horse Center. It's your chance to see the facility, meet an instructor and the horses, and try out a lesson to help you decide if you want to sign up for more exciting experiences with us. It also gives us a chance to see what experience you already have, if any, and get you matched with the right instructor and horse.

When you arrive for your intro lesson, you'll meet your instructor and we will have a horse for you to work with. We'll show you how we tack up for a lesson and you'll get to spend some time in the saddle. After we untack and take care of the horse we will answer any questions you might have, we'll show you around the farm, and you will have the opportunity to get signed up for The Riding School or for more private lessons. Those who sign up for The Riding School before they leave will get $50 off their first month's tuition! Plan on being here about an hour for the intro lesson. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots with a heel. We will provide a helmet for your intro lesson if you don't already have one. Dress for the weather, and come prepared to have a great time!

Private lessons just for your little one! These mini sessions are perfect for younger kids' attention spans and are designed to introduce your child to the world of horses. In a fun and relaxed atmosphere, your child can help one of our instructors brush our pony and take a short leadline ride. There's no pressure and they can do as much or as little as they are comfortable with. Ages 2-6.

Preschool Lessons

The Riding School

This is our signature program, and the best value we offer. The Riding School is designed to give students a well-rounded equestrian education. We use a curriculum that has seven levels for students to work through, mastering skills and earning a certificate and a ribbon on completion of each level.

The Riding School consists of two types of classes, Mounted Horsemanship and Horse Sense. Mounted Horsemanship is the riding lessons and Horse Sense is a weekly large group class that teaches students all the things they need to know about caring for and handling horses.

When you sign up for The Riding School you will have a choice of three different tuition plans. Choose the one that fits your schedule and budget. The bronze plan gives students one Mounted Horsemanship class per week, the silver gives you two, and gold gives you three. Everyone can attend the weekly Horse Sense class together.

Private Lessons

For those students who are wanting or needing some extra one on one attention with an instructor, private lessons are available on a limited basis. This is a great option if you are getting ready for a show or you want some extra help working on skills before leveling up to the next level. We also have some students who have moved away and like to schedule a lesson when they are back in town, so private lessons are perfect for that, and for students who have inconsistent schedules and can't nail down a regular time each week to participate in The Riding School.
